Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could help the team access areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.

Fans can look forward to learning which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
